Plans deletion/archive
As I saw that when you delete a Plan all conversations, Groups etc are deleted could be useful to have another Status for that Plans, maybe an "Archived" status, maybe visible in another dashboard or something similar.

We’d love to hear more about the following:
1. When would you delete or archive a plan?
2. How long would you like it to be accessible?
Feel free to include any specific scenarios where archiving a plan would be useful.
We appreciate your feedback and look forward to reading through your comments!
Cheers,
The Planner Team

We complete dozens of projects each month, each of which is a Bucket containing multiple tasks. We need to keep track of the completed tasks, but after a couple of months, we don't need them cluttering up our work area. We'd like to archive it so it is not in the current Plan but available if we need it. Sometimes, we return to an old project (bucket) that is completed and start it up again.

Please we are in desperate need of being able to archive the buckets when done.
Yes I now that we can put all tasks in an archive bucket, but we need to separate the tasks and keep them in buckets. even in archive.
If Microsoft really want users to fully embrace the planner, they need to do some work on this tool as fast as possible. Please do not give us a tool that looks so promising and then stop the development of the planner -

Looking to move over from Trello. We use the archive feature a lot. We have a central task tracker and weekly archive all completed tasks to declutter - however, we need the ability to report on the archived tasks for yearly appraisals. With the delete function making everything gone forever, this is a big concern for us.

Our compliance team is looking for a way to purge the plans/comments added in planner after a certain time, may be 5 years. When can this feature be available in Planner with O365?

We use Planner to help us with our annual report each year. So it would be nice to be able to archive Plans from each year. For example, my office of graphic designers currently has 15 Planners representing different offices/departments/colleges on campus that we work with. College of Business includes all projects for the year 2020. After we complete our annual report for 2020, we will would like to archive that Plan since 2021 is approaching. Please help.

We're just getting started with using Planner and a project was deleted with no way of retrieving it, but the name of the project remains there with no real way to clear even the name out. I should mention we are trying to use Planner solely in Teams so that we can keep everything in one place. Plus there needs to be a way to archive a completed task so that a person or team go can back and do something like an "end of the year review."
I'd say keep the archives for 2-2.5 years. The sooner the better for us or we may look at other "more useable" options as my co-worker has mentioned.

In my product development role, we always work on many product project plans concurrently and if I could archive completed projects and remove them from the Task bar so only the active projects were available it would be easier to view/manage. Also, the ability to refer back to a completed plan in teams is a great feature if I could get to it in an archive section.

It would be good to have ability to delete/archive a plan without deleting the group, or abaility to change the Group for the plan. An example use case would be multiple plans per one Group, but then a plan becomes redundant due to project completion. When a user then leaves the plan, they leave all plans for that Group, which is not ideal. So either ability to delete/close/complete a plan, or ability to change the Group. Thanks

It would be nice if there could just be one central repository for retention policies for all 365 apps, giving us the ability to customize the policies as applicable to each application.

Please install a recycle bin in the Microsoft Planner app so that accidentally deleted tasks can be restored and a function in which the authorizations for deleting tasks can be set would also be very helpful, since currently every team member can simply delete tasks, thank you very much.

I hate to delete a plan because we work in cycles, so that plan may be useful a year or two down the road and it would great to just copy the plan for the new cycle. I would like to say at minimum a year, but up to 3 years. The archive feature would be useful as I go into my evaluation each year, I would like to pull up some of the plans as evidence of what I did, how I did it, and how I contribute to my organization as a whole. Additionally, I can look at archived files and swot analysis that went into making each decision for the plan.

I would need to be able to archive plans for several years. I recently used a planner to plan accreditation for a medical course. That accreditation period runs for 4 years. The information in those cards needs to be retained until the next accreditation.

In conjunction with requests to set permissions, delegated project owners only should have rights to mark a Plan as complete, archive, or delete. Would keep Planner hub tidy while also preserving important details as PMs and department heads detect trends and wish to substantiate with historical data.

1. When would you delete or archive a plan?
Once the project is completed, it would have an option to Archive under the Plan Settings. It would also be nice if there was a quick reference on the plan to quickly identify active plans from archived plans. Perhaps the entire plan box can be colored gray instead of white to easily separate one from the other. Also create a new section in the Planner Hub - Recent Plans, All Plans, Archived Plans.2. How long would you like it to be accessible?
Ideally it would be a 7 year retention, but even an export to PDF would be an acceptable solution. As long as we have an option to retain the historical records of the project, it should be fine. -

Deleting or archiving should be mainly up to the user. There are time that you abandon a project because you find it is not viable to pursue any longer. Especially in early stage exploration. It is important to explore projects methodically and not let ideas slip through the cracks and therefore MS Planner is a good tool.
Having an ability to archive when a project is abandon but come back to it at a better time and not having to completely recreate is important.

Leaving a Plan kicks the user (even if they are owner) out of the O365 Group? No warning or anything and very poor experience for users. This is not intuitive.
