Integration with outlook tasks
New tasks created in Planner should also be seen in outlook
Hello! We wanted to provide an update to our status below. As we announced in our previous status update, our initial integration with To Do was our first step in a journey of bringing all your Microsoft Task Management services closer together, including Outlook and Planner. Through To Do, you can see your Planner tasks within Outlook on the Web.
However, the continuing feedback on this post makes it clear that there is a desire for more work to be done to improve this experience. We want to make sure this feedback and votes aren’t getting lost by being added to this existing post.
Instead, we’d like to make sure you have a forum to express these continuing pain points / desires, and a way to vote for which ones you’d like us to work on first (and how we should prioritize those asks against the many other great asks we get from users like you).
To that end, we’ve created the following UserVoice items to track some of the feedback we are continuing to see in this post — please vote for the ones that matter the most to you, and add new items to track anything else!

We’ve just released our integration with To-Do as a first step towards a larger task coherence initiative.
Why To-Do and not Outlook tasks?
We are integrating with To-Do because Outlook tasks is being replaced with the To-Do app. This experience has already shipped for Outlook Web users, and the To-Do team is working on bringing this to Outlook Desktop apps as well.
Today, you can view and edit Planner tasks you’ve been assigned in To-Do’s new Assigned to me list. This is available on to-do.office.com and To-Do’s Windows, Android, and iOS apps.
Here are more details on this integration: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Planner-Blog/Planner-and-To-Do-integration-bringing-you-a-more-cohesive-task/ba-p/553485
Our work in this area is not done, and we’re relying on you to help us decide what’s next! This thread has grown to encompass a lot of different ideas and pain points, so we’d love to break it out to help us prioritize and dive deeper into user scenarios.
One of these ideas is a “Convert to Planner task” button for emails. Vote and join the conversation here: https://planner.uservoice.com/forums/330525/suggestions/15943510
Thank you so much for your patience and thoughtful feedback, please keep the suggestions coming!

Not easy to move tasks from Outlook "tasks/to-do" into Planner tasks especially when trying to integrate with Teams channels. Some type of convert/assign to Planner would be fantastic.

Well I use outlook desktop. Current task system is a mess. Planner tasks sometimes show, sometimes don't. Outlook desktop is a very outdated program.

Organizer is presently incorporated with to-do, yet those two tabs "Arranged" and "Doled out to me", don't show up in Outlook. In the event that you can accomplish this last advance. If you are looking for cleaning service just take look here: https://yallacleaning.com/cleaning-dubai/

So this idea has been marked as complete when in fact it is not in any way complete. The ask was to integrate Planner tasks with OUTLOOK, not with To-Do.
I will follow this integration with great interest.
Thank for sharing,excelent write
Such a nice idea
Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me. I see the corresponding menu item in the To-Do app, but I don't see any task. It just says: "Tasks assigned to you in To-Do or Planner will appear here". Within the app settings there is no list entry to enable or disable the integration of Planner in the Connections section.

Keep in mind that any kind of "task planning" is only half of time management. If I cannot see my calendar appointments (Outlook) and all of my tasks (Outlook, Planner, To-Do) all in one place, it is a major fail. How do I easily know what is on my plate today if and if I have the bandwidth to accept new tasks if I have to keep checking 3 different systems that do not show my combined commitments?
Thank you for sharing,it's really new info for me

Why do we need another app? We have to add the tasks to Planner and then use To Do? What's the point? Why not just use Planner and the "My Tasks" view?

Can you provide more details about when the Outlook Tasks app will be fully replaced by To-Do for the Outlook desktop clients? From a change management perspective, it's nice to be able to let our end users know ahead of time when something like this changes and I haven't seen any news/announcements about this change from Microsoft yet.
Planner tasks in To-Do need also:
New update is great but there are still few things missing:
- copying tasks between assigned from planner (new tab) to another task list
- view assigned to-do tasks (from planner) in task view in outlook
- if above is not possible maybe a planner add-in for outlook is a good option
Utterly pointless until you have multiple accounts supported in To Do with a combined view in Desktop, IOS and other apps
Fantastic, thank you for this, so far so good. I will be adding feedback through the feedback forum.
For those not seeing the 'Assigned to Me' or 'Planned' options, you must switch them on in settings.
I've had an issue with the "assigned to me" tab disappearing from the desktop app.
It did show up, but the first time I completed all items, it disappeared... never to return.
I do have the Auto-hide empty smart lists option on... but toggling this does nothing. I've also tried signing out and back in.
Removing "Assigned to me" and readding using the web interface also does nothing
I can see "Assigned to me" on the web interface (to-do.office.com) and I can manipulate tasks from there, but no planner tasks show up in the app (even when added to my day!)
this is great. Thanks!!
