Integration with outlook tasks
New tasks created in Planner should also be seen in outlook
9,819 votesHello!
We’ve just released our integration with To-Do as a first step towards a larger task coherence initiative.
Why To-Do and not Outlook tasks?
We are integrating with To-Do because Outlook tasks is being replaced with the To-Do app. This experience has already shipped for Outlook Web users, and the To-Do team is working on bringing this to Outlook Desktop apps as well.Today, you can view and edit Planner tasks you’ve been assigned in To-Do’s new Assigned to me list. This is available on to-do.office.com and To-Do’s Windows, Android, and iOS apps.
Here are more details on this integration: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Planner-Blog/Planner-and-To-Do-integration-bringing-you-a-more-cohesive-task/ba-p/553485
Our work in this area is not done, and we’re relying on you to help us decide what’s next! This thread has grown to encompass a lot of different ideas and pain points, so we’d love to break it out to help us prioritize and dive deeper into user…

Allow Tasks to be moved between Plans/Boards.
Currently you can only move Tasks to different Buckets within a Plan/Board. It would be very useful to be able to also copy or move them to different Plans/Boards that you are a member of.
4,616 votesThank you for your feedback! We’ve improved the ‘Copy task’ dialogue so you can chose a different plan to send a copy of a task to! We’ll be exploring and expanding the ways in which you and your team can organize work in Planner, and hope this will be a helpful step forward.
Here’s an article to learn more about this feature: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=872349

Instead of 1 to 1, allow Groups to have many Plans
Right now, groups have a 1 to 1 relationship (1 Group = 1 Plan), would be nice for a single group to have multiple plans
3,073 votes!! You can now create a new plan within an existing group!!
Once you open the “New Plan” dialog just select the link to add to an existing group. Your new plan will then be added to that group, leveraging the existing group infrastructure.

Allow external users to view/edit tasks.
We have sub consultants that we collaborate with on a daily basis. It would be nice to have different levels of permissions to view tasks, edit tasks, and / or create tasks.

Copy a task
Need the ability to copy a task, including the checklists and other items within the task. This would allow one to set up a template task, then create many tasks using that template task. This is a different request than the many copy suggestions that have been made already.
1,355 votesCopy task is now available in Planner! To use, click on a task’s details menu and select “Copy task”.

Support for Subtasks or Checklists

Remove 250 task limit per person per plan.
Currently, there is a 250 task limit per person per plan. The error states “You've run out of space! Delete some old tasks and projects to continue creating new ones.” Removing completed tasks defeats the purpose of using Planner as a historical task tracker if resources are limited to 250 tasks.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msofficeother-msowin10/planner-cant-submit-more-tasks-for-a-specific/12fee9a1-9681-4c12-9920-1b9aa43a4ba7685 votesThis limit has been removed – users can now have thousands of tasks assigned to them.
We’re continuing work around performance and actively monitoring how many users hit this limit. So far, we only have seen users with unchecked Flows/automated task assignments hitting this limit.
We are planning on publishing formal documentation around all of our Planner limits once we’ve completed more performance work, but don’t have anything to share at this time.

Thanks for everyone’s patience on this item. We’ve completed our first item in this space. We now set Task Activity Email Notifications (Assign and Complete) to Off By Default. Plan/Group owners can turn this setting on/off in the “Edit Plan” dialog.
We still have additional work planned in this area such as providing more granular controls to which activities will trigger notifications and more control over cases where you’ve been assigned tasks.
Thanks again for the feedback!

I really loved it. But I am wondering if there can be multiple task owners for one task.
I created a task, which has two owners in actual. For example, there is a presentation being conducted by two members, I should be able to make two owners instead of one.
416 votesThanks for the feedback. We’ve completed work to support assigning a task to multiple people.
